What Benefit Does Office 365 Mail Provide?

The Microsoft Office 365 platform has many benefits that include scalability, work anywhere, collaboration, reduction in hardware\energy costs and advanced security features. Cloud-hosted email provides reliability and promotes productivity by:

  • Mitigating power outages and hardware failure issues for on premise servers
  • Reduces downtime by eliminating on premise server maintenance
  • Provides redundancy with multiple server infrastructure locations across the United States

How Do I Access Office 365 Mail On My Mobile Device?



Add SWTC Email Account on a Mobile Device


SWTC employee email has migrated to Office 365, providing more storage space and improved accessibility.

To access your Office 365 email on a mobile device, please refer to Microsoft's official documentation for setup and configuration on various mobile devices.

How Do I Access Outlook Webmail?

  1. You can access Outlook Web Access (OWA) by:

    Going directly directly to: outlook.office.com.

    Or

    On the Southwest Tech website (https://www.swtc.edu) scroll to the bottom of the page, click "Faculty & Staff Links", and then click "Staff Email".

  2. Log in with user account (See the "Account - Forgot/Change My Password, Account Activation (Staff/Faculty)" document for account information).



  3. After signing in, you will be brought to your inbox.



How Do I Change/Add Calendars In Outlook Webmail?

Viewing your Calendars

  1. Sign into Outlook Web Access. See Email - Outlook Web Access (OWA) (Staff/Faculty) for instructions on how to sign in and access Outlook Web Access.

  2. Click "Calendar" link in the bottom left corner of the screen.



  3. Your calendar will load on the page.  All of your calendars will be listed on the left side of the screen.  If you don't see them, click on "My Calendars" to expand the list.

Adding a Calendar

    1. Follow the steps above to view your calendars.

    2. On the Calendar page, click "Add Calendar" Above "My Calendars"



    3. A calendar wizard will open on the screen. Select "Add from Directory".



    4. Type the desired contact's name into the field. This will search all available Office 365.



    5. After the calendar is selected, select the category you would like to add the calendar to. When you are finished, click "Add".



    6. The calendar will be automatically added to the category you chose under "My Calendars".


How Do I Turn Off Focused Inbox View?

In Outlook, Focused Inbox is a feature that uses machine learning to control the overflow of emails by analyzing incoming messages and placing the most important emails in the "Focused" tab, while the rest go to the "Other" tab.



Disabling Focused Inbox

From the Outlook desktop client

1. Navigate to the "View" tab on the menu ribbon.
2. Click the "Show Focused Inbox" button to disable the view.


After completing the steps, the changes will revert to the original settings, and you'll once again be able to switch between the "All" and "Unread" tabs from the Inbox section.

From Outlook Web Access

1. Open Outlook Web Access.
2. Sign-in with your Office 365 Account.
3. Click the Settings (gear) button in the top-right corner.
4. Turn off the Focused Inbox toggle switch.


Once you complete these steps, Focused Inbox will be disabled, and all your messages will appear without any smart sorting

From the Outlook Mobile App

1. Press your initial to the left of Inbox at the top of the app to bring up the settings menu.



2. Click the gear icon in the bottom left of the screen.


3. Slide the Focused Inbox toggle to the left to disable the feature.


Once you complete these steps, Focused Inbox will be disabled, and all your messages will appear without any smart sorting
